Arrivederci Roma, Torna a Sorrento

We started our day in Rome with our Toasty and cappucino with Amaretto.  We were waiting for our private driver to Sorrento.  This was the one big splurge.  I paid for us to have a private drive to Sorrento and back to Rome so we did not have to worry about transportation and it would just be easy.  Best decision and money every spent.
There was beautiful scenery as we drove.  We got to Sorrento late morning.  It was just wonderful.  We were able to check in the the hotel when we got there.
We then settled in and sat on our little balcony.  for a moment.  Sorrento just felt right, like home.

We were a little hungry at this point so we walked out of the hotel and onto Palazzo Tasso and found a restaurant in the square to get something to eat for lunch.  It was just so amazingly fresh.  The picture does not do the color of those yolks justice.  They are orange.  I had my first Sorrento Limoncello Spritz.  Being further south it was warmer and just beautiful.  After breakfast we just started our Italian behavior of walking aimlessly.

We found a Citrus grove and just walked around.

We enjoyed the views.  We also saw another church, imagine that a church in Italy.

After lunch, walking and all of that, Ronnie saw that right down from out hotel was a barber shop.  He really wanted to get his hair cut (and I think he thought it was cool to say he got a haircut in Italy).

We walked around again, Sorrento is so easy to explore.  We had decided that our first night's dinner was going to be at Trattoria Da Emilia.  Everyone we knew who had been to Sorrento and was of Italian decent told us this was the place to go.  Before we went we just walked and went looking at the water.

We then decided to check out the swanky hotel and go to the rooftop bar for a drink.  We went to Hotel La Favorita, BellaVista Cocktail Bar.  My drink was amazing, the snacks they brought out were to die for.  They were full on appetizers.

We then took the long windy walk down to Emilia.  It was such a cool walk and made me jealous that as a college student I did not have this type of housing and areas available.  LOL.  We got there and all of these people were waiting forever just to be able to sit on a dock, Ronnie and I were fine with sitting in the restaurant.  It was even better.  We got to watch the old guy sitting in the corner directing everyone and telling them how to do their jobs.  I had the house red, that was a small.  Then I ordered the fresh fish and Ronnie ordered pasta.  Those were real tomatoes hanging from the ceiling.  The meal, homestyle, wonderful.

We then did the windy walk back up.  We decided to stop at Bar Ercolano.  This would ultimately become "our" bar to go to every night.  It was such a great place and so much fun.  This is the tabletop- such a cool design.

Ronnie had an old fashioned and I had an espresso con ciocolata and we split a lemon desert.  Today was such an amazing day, I cannot wait for every other day.

Bologna Day3- day trip to Modena

We started off the day sort of late.  Decided to do a day trip to Modena, round trip was under 17 euros total for us both.  We walked to the train station which is literally like 5 minutes from our hotel grabbed a cappuccino water and apricot filled croissant and off we went.  We arrive in Modena less than a half hour later.   look at the pretty streets of Modena Another day another piazza! But we were in Modena and I was in search of balsamic...a tasting a something.  The first store I went in to had very, very high end balsamic you could do a tasting for a price and the cheapest bottle started at 60 Euro.  This was not our balsamic market.  This was a little above where we wanted to buy and we have tasted the really expensive stuff before.  But then we found a reasonable store.  Giuseppe Giusti offers free tastings of their balsamic at all different levels and their vermouth.  It was all fantastic.  We decided on some i...

YY Time with Y-town Friends

This new place is Asian town was a fantastic experience with some wonderful friends.  Ronnie and I got a call dear old friends John, Dave and Dana- from Youngstown and now living in Cleveland- to meet for lunch at a new place called YY Time.  This restaurant is a cool new concept in Asia Town.  You sit and order through a QR code.  Each seat has its own code.  They have street food, skewers, Asian soups, bubble teas and milks so many great choices.  We each ordered an then shared as we love to do.  I cannot wait to return!  Here are the great items we tried that day.   Salty crispy chicken and a fruit bubble tea Rice Noodle soup with braised brisket and one of the specialty crossing the bridge soups.  The noodle soup was amazing.  The flavor of all the broths were just amazing.  My husband and I split ours and It is definitely big enough to split.  And then we all tried a little bit of each others to just have a taste...

GIrls Trip- Alaska

I know know, this blog is all about the fun stuff I do with my husband, but this one blog post is going to be about an adventure I had with the one person I have known the longest in my life- my sister! The trip started with Angela texting one day asking if I wanted to see the Aurora Borealis....I thought sure why not.  And then we booked a trip and here we are. As we were planning I remembered an old friend from my semester at American lives in Fairbanks so I reached out to him for suggestions.  He offered some great ideas on places to go, things to do, and places to eat. Sadly we will not be able to see him and his wife, because they leave for vacation right after we got in town.   So the adventure for me started with a 7:50 text that my flight changed and a rerouting.  I left Cleveland at 1:40 pm and met up with my sister in Seattle at around 7 pacific time for a quick dinner before we parted ways for our flights to Fairbanks (different airlines).  ...
