Capri

Today we woke up and we were headed on a boat to Capri.  It is really a magical place.  Very different from Sorrento.  We were waiting for the bus to the port for the boat by some lovely lemon trees in Sorrento.  The lemon trees are just gorgeous and everywhere

We enjoyed the beautiful ride over

We enjoyed a light typical Italian Breakfast of cappuccino and pistachio cream croissant and Ronnie played with the biggest lemon he had ever seen!!!!

We then walked around a little bit and decided that since the boat ride later would take us around the island and show us the blue grotto, instead of getting in line to try and get a boat to go into the Blue Grotta we would go to Ana Capri and take the incline.  I am so glad we did that.  OMG, I cannot even begin to describe the beauty.  We decided to take a taxi- which is really just an old car.  It only cost around 20 Euros and it was cool.  The ride up was slightly scary.  The turns and twists and how they even drive it is amazing to me.  At the top we walked around a little bit and then decided to grab lunch.

Ronnie had a caprese sandwich, I had a vegetable sandwich and lots of water.

We then got in line for the incline.  and hopped on.

It was so beautiful taking pictures from the ride up.  You are over peoples homes, garden's and seeing farms.  It is a way of life in Italy and you can hear the animals in the distance and people talking on their porches and in their yards and visitors just travel overhead.  And let's talk about this lift.  It is a single seat lift, with a bar.  No real safety mechanism.  I kept thinking how in the US this would be such a safety hazard and all the overprotective moms would be freaking out.

We got off the lift and these are the sites.

Does   anyone notice my smile in all pictures in Italy

beautiful flowers. Cafe up top.

Once we got back to Ana Capri we walked around the shops and found a church.  Imagine that, another church and museum in Italy.

I loved the cute little depictions of life in Italy.  Then the Inside of the church the gorgeous flooring and artwork.

As always I took a picture of San Antonio in homage to my favorite saint.  But look at that beautiful lemon tree on the floor.

We then did some shopping.  I purchased the Capri bells for people back home.  They were really cool and I was so excited to purchase them for everyone.

We then stopped for dinner and I had what was considered the "typical' drink of Capri.  Served in a lemon, it was just refreshing and delicious.  I then had a delicious caprese sushi.  It was fish but had a little spice and tomato on top.  Ronnie of course had more mussels and other fish for dinner.  When we finished they brought us an artichoke cello-esque shot.  It was so delicious.  I cannot even begin to describe how delicious it was.

After dinner we walked around Capri to kill a bit more time before meeting to get back on the boat for a tour around Capri.  As we went around the island they showed us the little boy watching the island, the blue grotto, versace's yacht, famous people's home on mountain tops.  It was crazy.  But the history was fun.  And we were told that as we passed through the heart shaped rock formation the person you smooched was who you would be with for the rest of your life.

Capri was fabulous but I would probably not go back as there are so many other places I would love to see in Italy.  It was beautiful.  But it was very touristy compared to other places in Italy.

Bologna Day3- day trip to Modena

We started off the day sort of late.  Decided to do a day trip to Modena, round trip was under 17 euros total for us both.  We walked to the train station which is literally like 5 minutes from our hotel grabbed a cappuccino water and apricot filled croissant and off we went.  We arrive in Modena less than a half hour later.   look at the pretty streets of Modena Another day another piazza! But we were in Modena and I was in search of balsamic...a tasting a something.  The first store I went in to had very, very high end balsamic you could do a tasting for a price and the cheapest bottle started at 60 Euro.  This was not our balsamic market.  This was a little above where we wanted to buy and we have tasted the really expensive stuff before.  But then we found a reasonable store.  Giuseppe Giusti offers free tastings of their balsamic at all different levels and their vermouth.  It was all fantastic.  We decided on some i...

YY Time with Y-town Friends

This new place is Asian town was a fantastic experience with some wonderful friends.  Ronnie and I got a call dear old friends John, Dave and Dana- from Youngstown and now living in Cleveland- to meet for lunch at a new place called YY Time.  This restaurant is a cool new concept in Asia Town.  You sit and order through a QR code.  Each seat has its own code.  They have street food, skewers, Asian soups, bubble teas and milks so many great choices.  We each ordered an then shared as we love to do.  I cannot wait to return!  Here are the great items we tried that day.   Salty crispy chicken and a fruit bubble tea Rice Noodle soup with braised brisket and one of the specialty crossing the bridge soups.  The noodle soup was amazing.  The flavor of all the broths were just amazing.  My husband and I split ours and It is definitely big enough to split.  And then we all tried a little bit of each others to just have a taste...

GIrls Trip- Alaska

I know know, this blog is all about the fun stuff I do with my husband, but this one blog post is going to be about an adventure I had with the one person I have known the longest in my life- my sister! The trip started with Angela texting one day asking if I wanted to see the Aurora Borealis....I thought sure why not.  And then we booked a trip and here we are. As we were planning I remembered an old friend from my semester at American lives in Fairbanks so I reached out to him for suggestions.  He offered some great ideas on places to go, things to do, and places to eat. Sadly we will not be able to see him and his wife, because they leave for vacation right after we got in town.   So the adventure for me started with a 7:50 text that my flight changed and a rerouting.  I left Cleveland at 1:40 pm and met up with my sister in Seattle at around 7 pacific time for a quick dinner before we parted ways for our flights to Fairbanks (different airlines).  ...
