Carrying on Italian Traditions

Homemade Pasta and Sauce So reverting a bit to Easter and my sadness of not being able to have the normal holiday- I had a need to make homemade pasta.   Usually I make homemade Lasagna, but this time I did not have all the necessary ingredients so I made fettucine and homemade sauce. As a blessing, we got pork neckbones I made the ttraditional sauce starting with the pork neckbones in olive oil and garlic.  After they are browned I added the San Marzano crushed tomatoes, more garlic, basil and oregano.   Let that cooks for hours, the meat falls off the bones and the sauce is very flavorful!  I made the handcut fettucini.  The dough is so easy.  I do cheat a bit and do it in the Kitchen Aid instead of by hand.  But once it is mixed there is an element of doing it by hand. Then you take the pieces and roll them through the pasta maker.  Once the desired thickness- thicken then I make my lasagna noodles, you flour them and hand cut into strips....

La Famiglia

Part of the married life is visiting each other's family even when it is far away and celebrating their birthdays.  In February 2020, before lockdown, Ronnie was blessed to be my nephew Sam's confirmation sponsor.  It was also the weekend of Sam's 13th birthday. We are blessed that we actually enjoy spending time with each other's family.  This weekend was very special.  Not only was my nephew confirmed with my husband by his side, we got to spend quality time with the kids.  Those who have been part of my life know that my niece and nephew mean the world to me. One of the blessings of them is that they do not care about gifts for thier birthdays/Christmas, they like experiences and spending time together.  So for his birthday we went to the trampoline park.  My nephew had an amazing time!  I had fun also.  It was my first time.  Ronnie did not want to try and mess up his back, so he just watched our stuff. It was fun, but tha...

Random night food adventures

Some nights we really have no plans but just sort of end up somewhere.  We love trying new places or places that are just new for us!  One of our favorite new restaurants and place to go is Saigon downtown on E4th street.  We also stopped by Jukebox and it has become one of our favorite fun places for drinks and fun interesting food. So we have been to Saigon before- during All Star week but we went back there for a quick date night in August.  From starter to dessert it was all amazing!  We shared all the dishes, and one of each was plenty for us.  My husband who hates dessert even ate the ice cream and fried bananas.  The food here is always so fresh and made so well.  The owner really cares about what he is putting out! We had finally made it to Jukebox for more than just a drink- we had been there before randomly one day, but this trip was a bit more planned.  Plus, we had a giftcard from Cleveland independents to use....

All Star fun in Cleveland

One of the reasons we became season ticket holders was to be able to attend the fun stuff for the All Star Weekend.  We bought the strip of tickets and went to the softball game and the Home Run derby!  The enjoyment and energy in Cleveland was amazing that weekend!  We started the weekend at Play Ball Park!  We went ziplining, which was phenomenal, saw some great exhibits, and walked around seeing all the fun baseball stuff!  The only problem is it was so ridiculously hot that day!  We had to leave because of the heat.      Before the softball game we stopped downtown for dinner at Saigon.  We had never been there and they were not busy compared to the other places.  It was one of the best decisions we ever made for dinner.  The food and drinks were top-notch and the owner is a sweet man.      The celebrity softball game was a blast, even though Cleveland lost!     Before the Home ...

Its a dog's life!

So for years my hubby has bugged me about getting a dog, I finally broke down when we found this beautiful boy!  His name is Bello and he had a rough beginning.  We found him online, turns out the person we bought him from was a bad woman.  She told us Bello was Isabella, she told us he had all his shots but could not provide the papers, we met him and just knew we had to take him home. He was a mess when we got him!  But I want to share some of our fun times with Bello from the summer as part of the loving married life blog! he soon got comfortable with us He loves my hubby more than life! We taught him to walk on a leash! We bought a kiddie pool for him He is still a puppy baby! We can take him to fun places, like the Clifton Fest! His first swim in Lake Erie     He found his favorite toy...a Schtick!   He enjoys out time at Terrestrial Brewing where we can get great tacos, nachos and drinks and he gets to play with doggy f...
