Things are looking up. We started the day with our breakfast- croissant with meat and cheese, banana and nutella for me, Ronnie had cereal and then off to Ancona. We had a nice walk to the train station and an easy time today buying train tickets.
We had an hour layover in Rimini. What a beautiful little town. We walked around for a few minutes. Saw an open air market, had a water and a coke, watched the fountain dancing outside the train station.
And then a nice comfortable ride to Ancona. What a beautiful ride along the Adriatic it is.
We arrived at our hotel- The Seeport- and it is gorgeous outside and inside. The views are simply amazing.
Around 2:30pm the lovely soon to be married in Italy couple picked us up and we were off for a tour of Ancona and Numana.
We are so blessed to be part of these few days with them and get to see Fabrizio's hometown and be a guest of theirs for their wedding. To learn about his hometown and see these beautiful towns is so lovely. Nothing is better than having a hometown host.
We started with the Duomo- a gorgeous church up on the hill in Ancona.
We then pulled off the road on the way to Numana and say these paragliders and the beauty of the Adriatic. This is the closets i have been t my hometowns so for some reason I do feel closer to home here.
In Numana we met up with Natalie and Fabrizio's parents and walked around the city a little, could see the sailboats and beaches and enjoyed an apertivo. It was nice to just all spend more time together. While talking, another guest and I discovered that she was friends with my sister. what a small world. Ronnie and I have been meeting people that we have connections to throughout this trip and while I expect there to be some connection and Natalie and I are both from Youngstown, this was a crazy connection.
We then made a pit stop of the way back in another town for Fabrizio to pick up the bride's bouquet and boutonnieres. He parked right in front of a church- so it was a sign for a picture.
He dropped Ronnie and I back off at the hotel and the sunset was just gorgeous. This entire city is gorgeous.
We then made our way into a Piazza for dinner. We found a place called La Tana del Pulpo. It was delicious. We started with a swordfish carpaccio. It was amazing. It had citrus slices, fantastic nutty seeds that provided a great slaty crunch. They then brought us fried stuffed olives. They were so well seasoned and crunchy. Ronnie had tuna steak that was breaded along the edges and served with parmesan crisps and a curry sauce. I had a ravioli stuffed with sea bass and citrus topped with yellow tomatoes, olives and prawns. It was fantastic.
We finished the evening walking through another piazza and following the music to Bagolo.
They were having an American themed party with a band playing 80's music. The band thought they were from Texas. LOL. We had a spritz and a beer and danced in the streets to the 80's music. The band was great.
It was a fun end to one of our best days in Italy so far this trip.
